*Phew, we sure dodged a bullet this morning (Tuesday). The MCS, which could have brought us derecho-like winds, pretty much disintegrated before it arrived, leaving us with a few scattered showers.

Overview: Scattered storm or shower chances this week, with a cold front coming through on Friday to bring a pleasant weekend.

Quick forecast:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, highs in the upper-80s to the low-90s, slight chance for an isolated afternoon shower or storm.

Wednesday night: Increasing clouds, lows in the upper-60s to the low-70s, increasing shower and storm chances.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, highs in the mid-80s to around 90, chances for afternoon scattered showers and storms.

Detailed forecast:

Through tonight (Tuesday): Any lingering clouds should pretty much clear, giving way for muggy lows in the mid-60s to around 70. Winds should be mainly calm with a few isolated patches of fog possible. Confidence: Medium-High.

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Skies remain mostly sunny and humid (dew points in the mid to upper-60s) as highs reach the upper-80s to the low-90s. Winds will be light and out of the south and a slight chance for an isolated shower or storm in the afternoon. Confidence: Medium-High.

Tomorrow night: Clouds start to increase with another muggy night as lows target the upper-60s to the low-70s. Storm and shower chances will continue throughout the night, and become more likely after midnight. Some storms could have the potential to be severe. Confidence: Medium-High.

Thursday: It's yet another muggy day (dew points in the 60s) with highs in the mid-80s to around 90. Skies will be mostly cloudy with more chances for afternoon to evening scattered showers and storms. Winds will come out of the south at 5-10 mph, with some higher gusts possible. Confidence: Medium.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy skies and humid with lows in the upper-60s to the low-70s. Thunderstorm and shower chances continue for earlier overnight with southwestern winds at around 5 mph. Confidence: Medium.

Friday: A cold front is expected to move through on Friday, which, in addition to brining cooler temperatures for this weekend, will cause some uncertainty about the forecast. Currently, Friday is expected to start off humid with some clouds. A scattered shower or storm chance is also possible earlier on. After the cold front moves through, skies should clear and humidity should drop (finally). Winds could also pick up and may gust in the 35-40 mph range from the west, but highs should still reach the upper-80s to the low-90s. Keep you posted. Confidence: Low-Medium.

Friday night: Dew points continue to drop with lows around the mid-60s under clear skies. Winds out of the northwest could still be breezy and gust between 20 and 25 mph. Confidence: Low-Medium.
