Now that the season is shortly coming to an end, every football fan has a different opinion on this heated topic, Has Lionel Messi Been a Flop at PSG?
I have a very different opinion from most others. I believe that despite this season not being anywhere near his best, he has not been a flop.
Many argue that he has only had 4 league goals, but not everything is about league goals, you need to think from a different perspective.
G/A in all competitions
First of all, he has had 22 G/A in 32 games (all competitions) where he averages playing 84.13 minutes a game, That means he scores or assists a goal about every 122.36 minutes.
PSG’s tactics
Another reason he hasn’t been at his best is because of how PSG plays.
On paper, the lineup shows him playing at Right Wing or Center Forward, but if you watch PSG play he is around the midfield line most of the time. He is also the playmaker for PSG whereas Mbappé is the main man or the goal scorer.
Other statistics
In fact, he is tied for 1st place for hitting the woodwork (pole and crossbar) the most times in the top 5 leagues in the world, how unlucky!
He is also ranked 2nd in Ligue 1 for assists, assists in the box, and key passes.
He may not be having his best season, but nevertheless, he has been a crucial player in PSG’s Ligue 1 title.

BRIGHTON IS BETTER THAN LEICESTER CITY CHANGE MY MIND
Messi still has room for improvement in PSG, he's still getting used to the season after spending most of his life with Barcelona.
Great post Sarthak!!
It wouldn't be as bad to hit the woodwork all the time, it shows that you're consistently getting shots, right?
