Caps bested by the Wild, 5-1

The Caps did not come out to play last night after a five-day break, resulting in a 5-1 defeat from Minnesota.

1st Period: 2-0

Minnesota did not wait to get started, scoring two goals in under two minutes from the puck drop. The goals were scored by Joel Eriksson Ek and Tyson Jost.

2nd Period: 3-0

Caps were unable to come back, as Joel Eriksson Ek got his second of the night off of a loose puck.

3rd Period (Final): 5-1

Marcus Foligno didn't wait for things to get started, scoring on the first shift in the third period making it 4-0. Finally, the Capitals got on the scoreboard, with Garnet Hathaway tipping in an Alex Ovechkin shot, making it 4-1. The Capitals pulled Vitek in for the extra attacker in hopes of overcoming a three-goal deposit. Unfortunately, Nicolas Deslauriers finished the Caps off with an empty netter. Final score: 5-1.

Let's hope the Caps do better on Wednesday as they host the Lightning. The game will start at 7:30 pm eastern time.
