UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE: Denmark Upset 2018 World Cup Winners and Portugal Draw Spain

The UEFA Nations League has started and there are 7 games remaining for the 1st matchday (out of 6 matchdays) in the group stages. Out of the 55 teams participating I support Denmark as I have been supporting their national team since 2017. Disclaimer: I will try to edit/update this article after the remaining games of matchday one finish up.

Czech Republic edges over Switzerland after Sow scores and own goal (2-1 FT)

Turkey vs Faroe Islands (4-0 FT)

Turkey double the goal margin within the last 8 minutes of the match.

Poland edge over Wales (2-1 FT):

Goals: Wales score a stunner in the 52nd minute courtesy of Jonny Williams assisted by Rabbi Matondo

Poland score an equalizer in the 72nd minute, scored by Jakub Kamińsky assisted by Tymoteusz Puchacz

Karol Świderski scores the winner for Poland in the 85th minute after a deflection in the Welsh back line

Portugal score late equalizer to draw Spain (1-1 FT)

Goals: Alvaro Morata assisted by Pablo Sarabia in the 25th minute

Joao Cancelo assists Ricardo Horta's equalizer in the 82nd minute

Modric's Croatia suffer huge loss to Austria (3-0 FT)

Goals: Arnautović scores in 41st minute - assist from Karim Onisiwo

Michael Gregoritsch scores in the 54th minute - assist by Maximilian Wöber

Maximilian Wöber bags another assist, this time for Marcel Sabitzer's 57th minute goal

Hungary vs England (1-0 FT)

Both teams had many chances but failed to convert, until the 64th minute where Reece James (ENG) brought down Hungary's Zsolt Nagy in the box. A penalty was awarded and was converted by Dominik Szoboszlai in the 66th minute. That single mistake from Reece James resulted in the Three Lions losing.

Italy vs Germany (1-1 FT)

Goals: Lorenzo Pellegrini scores in the 70th minute (assist from Wilfried Gnonto), but just 3 minutes later Germany's Joshua Kimmich equalizes. It ended with both sides taking home a point.

The Netherlands destroy Belgium's 'Golden Generation' (4-1 FT)

Goals:

Denmark upset 2018 WC winners (2-1 FT)

Goals: Nkunku assists Karim Benzema in the 51st minute

Andreas Cornelius comes in for Kasper Dolberg as a super sub

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg assists Cornelius' 1st goal ; the equalizer in the 68th minute

Joakim Mæhle assists the winner, scored by none other than Cornelius himself in the 88th minute, upsetting the French favorites in Paris.
