Caps Defeated by Blues, 5-2.

The Capitals were after a victory after a 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. Instead, they lost 5-2 to the St. Louis Blues.

1st Period.

Washington stroke first on the scoreboard, with a shot by Evgeny Kuznetsov which may have got a deflection off of the defender Parayko's stick. The Blues stroke back as Brandon Saad beat Orlov and Carlson on his way to the net. The Capitals responded with a beautiful pass from Mantha to Wilson on an odd-man break. The Blues then followed with O'Reilly scoring on the powerplay. Score: 2-2.

2nd Period.

The Capitals did not show up for the second period. The Blues dominated the second period and scored two goals against the Caps. One by former Capital Nathan Walker and another by Braden Schenn. Score: 4-2.

3rd Period.

A period in which the capitals needed to respond, they were unable to. The Blues finished the Caps off with an empty netter with about 30 seconds left. Final score: 5-2.

The Capitals didn't play their best game last night. The defense was too casual and there wasn't a lot of offensive. The Capitals will play on Friday against the Buffalo Sabres at 7:00 pm.
