Capitals Offseason Checklist Continued

So, we continue our offseason checklist with #2 on the list.

#2. Put Backstrom on LTIR (Long Term Injured Reserve)

Nicklas Backstrom is a star and a legend in Washington. But, the star center is 34, going to be 35 next season, and injuries have caught him. At the beginning of the 2021-2022 season, his hip ruled him out for 3 or so months. When Nick came back he wasn't himself and wants to play or produce at the same rate as earlier. Backstrom is a very talented player when he is healthy. And so the playoffs started Washington got eliminated and Nick wasn't producing as much as he was. So the questions and concerns came, will Backy ever get back to his form is it time for him to retire. Also, does he need surgery or rest and put on injured reserve so he can rest and regain (if he can) his form. When a player is put on Long Term Injured Reserve their respective team gets salary cap space. So money to improve the team. Backstrom has a 9.2 million cap hit, so he will clear a lot of cap space which the Caps can use to team improvement. Caps also get healthy Nicklas Backstrom back. All sides get what they want and the Capitals will thrive next year. Get the team 9.2 million dollars and make the team better!
