The Orioles had an exciting and somewhat surprising start to the 2022 season. While their overall record after 9 games was 3-6, how they got to that record was thrilling.
They started the season against the Tampa Bay Rays, who finished the previous year in first place. Not surprisingly, the Orioles did not win a single game of this series. Next up for the O's was a 3 game series against the Milwakee Brewers. The Brewers took 2 out of 3, leaving the Orioles with a 1-5 record.
The Orioles last series was against the New York Yankees. The Yankees are always a threat to be on top of the baseball standings, so there seemed little hope for the Orioles. The first game of the series proved to be a stunner as it went to extra innings. In the bottom of the 11th the Orioles had the bases loaded with 2 outs. The Yankees walked infielder Ramon Urias to send home the winning run. The Orioles lost the second game 5-2 but ended up winning game 3, and the series to boost their record to 3-6. The Orioles are currently in last place in the AL East. :(
