Capitals win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (Nhl) played their first playoff game yesterday on Tuesday, May 3 against the Florida Panthers. Washington finished their regular season in the second wildcard spot with 100 points and was looking to upset the Presidents Trophy winners as the best team in the Nhl with 122 points. The Capitals did just that by winning the game and showing speed and skill. The game started with Tom Wilson (52 points) scoring on the rebound to put Washington up 1-0 at the beginning of the game. Then, with about 2:30 left in the first period, Sam Bennett of the Panthers scored to tie the game at 1. The second period didn't start off as wanted for the away team (caps) as they got scored on by Claude Giroux, 2-1 for the Panthers. Next to the halfway mark, Evgeny Kuznetsov scored a very important goal to tie the game and switch the momentum in Washington's favor, 2-2.

Washington would then score again, honors to Tj Oshie from an incredible pass by Backstrom.

Lars Eller would net the empty netter and the Capitals win the game 4-2. The caps played almost the whole 60 minutes actively and were testing the home's team goalie. They played a really good game by creating opportunities with Vitek Vanecek ( goalie for caps) was great in net playing great and doing his job. Hope the Caps continue playing well and steal the series to go on to the second round for the first time since the time they won the cup in 2018.
